Samarya Yoga Deep Dive one week residential – April 13 – 20 2018
For some time now, we have had local Samarya students, students pursuing their Integrated Movement Therapy certification who already completed a 200 hour teacher training, and other community members asking us about a residential retreat that goes deep into the heart of yoga and into the heart of Integrated Movement Therapy, but without a focus on becoming a yoga teacher per se, or without pursuing the 200 hour yoga teacher training registration with Yoga Alliance. We have also had many students wanting to embark on a 300 hour training, having received their 200 hour training outside of Samarya.
We finally have an option just for you! This option is perfect for yoga students and teachers:
- interested in pursuing a 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training (this comprises one part of the 300 hour training)
- interested in pursuing IMT certification, but who have already completed a 200 hour teacher training
- interested in deepening their understanding and practice of yoga philosophy and related contemplative practices
Please consider joining us on the inaugural one-week option of the Samarya Yoga Liberation Teacher Training – an opportunity to be at the Guild, to dive deep into the heart of yoga, to learn the Basics of Integrated Movement Therapy while earning the IMT Adult Level 1 certificate, and to grow and thrive in community.
This week long training will begin on Friday evening with a yoga class, dinner and orientation. The next six days will be an opportunity to connect, reflect, and to learn some of the more esoteric and profoundly transformational aspects of yoga and related contemplative and mystic traditions.
Each day will begin with silent period from daybreak until 9 am to provide a period of inward reflection. During this period, students will attend a two hour yoga and meditation class taught by Molly or one of her faculty, followed by a simple, nourishing, vegetarian breakfast – we are able to accommodate most food restrictions.
From 9 am – 1 pm, we will engage in study of the Sutras and the Upanishads, Sanskrit pronunciation, contemplative practices, wisdom teachers, kirtan, and various aspects of yoga and related practices, and the intersection of yoga and social justice, as well as addressing questions of cultural appropriation, and yoga in its historical context.
1 – 3 pm is time for a large meal with the full group, followed by time to rest, hike, journal, make art, connect, walk the labyrinth, or sit and read in a hammock. Yoga nidra is also offered daily during this time. From 3 – 6, we engage in more study and movement, and from 6 – 7, we enjoy a light supper. Our 7 – 8 time slot is a period of personal reflection, discussion, or other engaging activity. Silent period begins again at 9, with all lights off at 10.
The Integrated Movement Therapy and Adult Level 1 training is woven into the first three days of the retreat. All one week participants will receive a certificate of completion for IMT and Adults Level 1. The one week retreat ends Friday, April 20 after breakfast.
