Death Doula training

Advaita - end of life care and companionship
Molly has been developing Advaita Death Doula training since 2003 and has worked extensively with people at end of life, including assisting and attending at scheduled deaths and being the primary companion on her sister’s end of life journey.

Advaita Death Doula training (formerly Bedside Yoga) a Death Doula training and practice - began as a natural outgrowth of Molly’s Life after Loss program, a series of grief honoring and processing classes and workshops held on and off-site at the Samarya Center. In 2005, Molly began an onsite Bedside Yoga program at a Seattle based care facility for people who are critically ill or at end of life, an all volunteer program that is now in its 15th year.

While Molly has since moved to her home in Mexico, the original Bedside Yoga program continues, with Molly focusing on training others to do this sacred work in a variety of settings. She is currently developing a program through La Ermita that matches volunteers with people who are at end of life in their homes in the small rural village where she lives.

Molly offers 60 hour Advaita Death Doula training both on retreat and in online training formats. These life-affirming trainings are for yoga teachers, therapists, hospice workers, chaplains, clinicians and others in pastoral care, death doulas, or for those simply interested in learning more about being with people at the end of life, offering solace, presence and appropriate movement and touch.

The Advaita Death Doula training has also greatly benefitted people who are in bereavement, processing past or future losses, and those wishing to increase and deepen their spiritual life and connection to divine presence.

In our time together, we will explore three broad topic areas: self-study, including developing our own spiritual foundation and practices, movement and breath, and contemplative tradition. We will learn and practice specific techniques within each of these core areas, including basic Thai yoga compressions and gentle passive stretching.

What people are saying

“Molly is such a valuable, warm and inspiring teacher. The depth of her study and practice is so evident, and learning from her was one of the most profound experiences I’ve ever had. For anyone who would like to explore presence at the end of life, I can not recommend this training highly enough. Molly invites you to start with your own self-study and then provides a sacred and devoted space to do just that.”

“To hold space during this most sacred time in someone’s life, we must first be deeply grounded in our own practice. This was my biggest take away! Molly’s amazing depth of knowledge regarding all things yoga, and her deep commitment to her own spiritual process, was not only educational, but truly inspiring. Meditation, asana, chanting and deep conversations about our own spirituality and the end of life process, took us on a journey inward that must be experienced to understand.”
